KRISTA WELTNER
Welcome! I’m an author, illustrator, and puppet maker who loves creating stories and art that spark imagination and celebrate diverse experiences. My debut picture book series, Everyday Adventures with Molly and Dyslexia (Free Spirit Publishing, 2024), is inspired by my own journey growing up with dyslexia. Through these stories, I hope to empower all children to be their own advocates and embrace their unique identities and strengths.

Beyond books, I bring characters to life in the themed entertainment and stop-motion animation industries. From crafting animated figures for theme parks in Orlando to contributing to films like Wendell and Wild (Netflix Animation) and Wildwood (Laika Studios), I’m passionate about storytelling in all its forms.

I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut, where I created my award-winning short film, Partially Compensated. This project, inspired by my dyslexia, has been featured in film festivals worldwide and has opened doors for me to advocate for inclusion and understanding through creative expression.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is connecting with readers of all ages. Whether visiting schools, speaking at events, or sharing my stories, I’m dedicated to fostering conversations about neurodiversity and differences and helping others embrace their own unique paths.
Whether through books, films, or puppets, my mission is to create art that connects, inspires, and makes the world a little brighter for the next generation.
