KRISTA WELTNER

Welcome! I’m an author-illustrator and puppet maker. I love creating silly stories with heart that spark imagination, bring joy, and laughter to readers of all ages. My picture book series, Everyday Adventures with Molly and Dyslexia (Free Spirit Publishing, 2024), was inspired by my own journey growing up with dyslexia and supports my ongoing advocacy mission. Through these stories, I hope to empower all children to be their own advocates and appreciate their unique strengths.
Art Licensing International represents me for illustrated work in the licensing realm.
Beyond illustration and bookmaking, I bring puppets to life in stop-motion animation and the theme park industry. From crafting animated figures and puppets for theme parks to contributing to films like Wendell and Wild (Netflix Animation) and Wildwood (Laika Studios), I’m passionate about storytelling in all its forms.
Currently based in Lancaster, PA. I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut, where I created my short film, Partially Compensated (also inspired by my journey with dyslexia). This project has been featured in film festivals worldwide and has opened doors for me to advocate for neurodivergent children and a more inclusive world.
